Goal setting is an important factor in the success of any internet business. But if you want to really succeed, you need to learn how to set outrageous goals. Normally, people set goals for their income, traffic, back links, etc. within their comfort zone. Let me explain why this is the wrong way to approach things.
First of all, when you set goals within your comfort zone, you’re most likely going to end up with small results. Small results aren’t very exciting. And if you’re business lacks excitement, you’ll be left with no motivation to strive for more. You’re business will ultimately fail, and you will hate your life.
What’s the solution? Set outrageous goals. Set goals for your income & traffic to quadruple. Now, I know what you’re saying….”I can’t do that!” or “How the hell am I going to do that?”
No worries. Chances are you will not achieve this outrageous goal. “Huh? So then what’s the point?” you ask. The point of this entire exercise isn’t about goal setting or achieving. It’s about reaching beyond your limits.
When you set an outrageous goal, you’re forced to think bigger. By thinking big you rewire the neural connections in your brain to expect more. This greater expectation causes you to take different actions than you normally would. Different actions leads to different results. Memorize this diagram below.
It’s time to go big! Start with an idea or goal in mind that sounds ridiculous: Earn $20,000.00 more this month online. Start taking new actions to achieve that goal. Your results will dramatically improve. Those new results will lead you back to bigger & better ideas, goals, inspiration, etc. This cycle will always keep repeating. And unless you’re continuously striving for bigger and better things, you will be stuck in the cycle of small results, low motivation, and an overall disgust everything that exists. (ok, so I’m exaggerating a little bit, but you get the point)
Do this now. Not tommorrow, not a week from now. Start setting outrageous goals today. Remember, the point isn’t to achieve them. It’s about stretching your limits and growing. Once the results start to show, you’ll feel a great sense of satisfaction and achievement. And that my friend will ultimately lead you down the path towards success.
